Therapy approach

I believe in the healing power of the therapeutic relationship, so my work is primarily grounded in a relational approach. This means practicing authenticity as a therapist and building a nurturing, normalizing relationship with clients. I see the relationship between therapist and client as a genuine connection that can give opportunities to practice vulnerability, receive care/compassion, grow in self-acceptance, explore identity, learn about interpersonal patterns, and try out new ways of navigating emotions and relationships (like co-regulating, sharing feedback, expressing needs and boundaries, and working through conflict.)

I also lean on approaches that can help go deeper to build insight between past and present. Often there are themes that show up in therapy that can be helpful to zoom out and work through. I’m totally up for listening and supporting you through week to week experiences, but I also may nudge you to consider if there are any larger themes or patterns that could be affecting you in your daily life. The idea is that addressing larger themes or patterns can have a broader impact than just processing a specific situation (though there may be times where just focusing on something that’s come up could be helpful too!)
